WHILST the media in recent days has been talking of impending gloom due to the weather, one story has shown how a rainbow can sometimes come from a storm.

Paul Barrington, a local surfer well known to the community with the nickname 'Barracat', is aiming to raise money by auctioning off his broken board for North Devon Cystic Fibrosis after a huge wave snapped it in half.

Since he listed the unique surfboard on eBay several companies have also added some great donations to the listing including a brand new surfboard, a years membership to surfing GB, a board bag, tail pad and leash, a t-shirt and a pile of wax and stickers.

Paul Barrington, North Devon surfing legend, said: "After watching the impending forecasts of the mother of all swells to hit the South West shores of Blighty, myself and a few select others searched out a lesser surfed beast of a wave not too far from our home."
