Table toppers North Hill A continued their quest for the Division One title with a convincing 9-1 victory over Crackington A at North Hill Village Hall.
The home trio of Shirley Luckhurst, Iain Oxenhame and Martin Hynes had no trouble winning the first three matches of the night, all in straight sets.
Frank Barnes caused a few problems before Oxenhame won their clash in four before Luckhurst and Hynes comfortably won their second matches against Keiron Chatterjea and Zach Parker respectively.
The doubles also went the way of the hosts in straight sets before Oxenhame defeated Chatterjea in four.
Barnes ensured no whitewash as he came back from a set down to beat Hynes before Luckhurst kept up her perfect night’s work by beating Parker 3-0.
Champions Bridgerule A took on Budehaven C at Stratton Community Hall and won by the same scoreline.
Budehaven could only muster two players but got off to the perfect start as Ian Westaway kept up his recent improvement by defeating Pete Freeburn in four sets.
However, that was as good as it got as Steve Cragg and David Streak won both matches in straight sets, as did Freeburn against Anthony Ward.
Budehaven A kept up their 100% winning start albeit without playing the top two as they ran out 6-4 winners against Budehaven B.
Although star player Mark Beaumont was absent, and Dave Salisbury had to play despite being injured, David Sillifant and David Ewen were in fine form.
Ewen beat Jeremy Skelton in the night’s opener before Sillifant won a decider against Nathan Jukes.
Aleks Worth pulled one back by beat Salisbury before Ewen got the better of Jukes, Skelton won a thriller against Salisbury 12-10 in the fifth, and Sillifant overcame Worth in straight sets. The doubles went the way of the A team despite losing the opening set.
Jukes and Worth defeated Salisbury and Ewen, meaning if Skelton could defeat Sillifant they would have earned a draw.
After a match that lasted over 20 minutes and saw both men take the initiative, Sillifant took the decider 12-10 for a rare treble.
In Division Two, champions North Hill B returned to form with a 9-1 success at their Crackington counterparts.
Mike Wood beat James Ellis in the night’s opener before Mike Kinger made it 2-0 with an excellent comeback victory over Simon Patterson from two sets to one down.
Trevor Luckhurst then beat Judith Cook to make it 3-0 before Wood and Luckhurst won their next encounter each in straight sets (5-0).
Cook beat Kinger in straight sets, two of which were won in sudden death, but that was as good as it got as the visitors reeled off the final four games without dropping a set.
Leaders Bridgerule B remain eight points clear of North Hill, albeit having played a game more after a 7-3 success over Altarnun last Friday night.
Paul Burden beat home skipper Alan Quilter to put Altarnun ahead but the hosts won the next three matches – all in four sets.
Quilter beat Jamie Sims and Shaun Collins edged out Geoff Hale in a decider to extend the lead to 5-1.
The doubles went the way of Altarnun, and although Burden comfortably beat Collins, Cornish secured a treble and Quilter beat Hale in five.
In Division Three, Budehaven F secured a 5-0 success over Budehaven G.
Veterans Paul Turner and David Revitt secured straight set wins over brothers Ethan and Alfie Hookway before the doubles was won in four after falling behind.
There was a much closer contest between Budehaven H and Budehaven E with Tyson Chard-Colgrove proving the difference.
He beat both Paul Slade and Chris Glover in the singles, both in four sets, before combining with Charlie Napper to take the doubles.
Earlier Napper lost to Glover and Slade.
