DUE to the sterling efforts of the greenkeepers there has been some golf played at Holsworthy.
Leading off with the Monthly Medal which Brian Hocking won, his excellent nett 63 decimating the field with Bob Demott and Jeremy Horwood taking second and third places respectively each having a nett 66 one ahead of fourth placed Steve Kiff.
The Ladies too enjoyed a very friendly eight hole better ball competition prior to them covening for their agm with Margaret Slinger and her partner Hilary Dorren enjoying it the most, their 20 point total being the best of the day.
Retiring lady captain Julie Ellis presented incoming captain Yvonne Bowler with the lady captain's brooch with Barbara Lake being voted in as lady vice-captain. Julie was able to report on yet another very good and enjoyable season and expressed the hope that Yvonne too would derive much pleasure in her captain's year.
Then it was the turn of the Veterans who again were indebted to the greens staff for being able to have a competition albeit over 13 holes which certainly wasn't unlucky for Alan Abrams who topped Division I with 31 points ahead of Tim Clarke 29 points and John Barnes also 29 points. Eddie Littlewood's 26 points was good enough to win Division II with Graham Makin, Dave Voller and Eric Lake following on each with 25 points.
Graham Makin is the current leader of the Eclectic Division II with Albert Taylor and Syd Clifford in hot pursuit, and Syd Pearce now heads Division I just holding off Chris Woolley and Tony Houghton.
