OVER 40 youngsters recently took part in a circus skills event in Pennygillam.
Organised by Rachel Oles of McQueen’s Dance and Theatre CIC, Rachel arranged for Naomi Lewis’ Airfish Circus, who run workshops in Falmouth and Penzance to come along and teach two three-hour sessions from 10am-1pm and 2pm-5pm.
Skills taught were the trapeze, aerial hoop, silks, flow skills, fire eating and the aerial chandelier, which is one of only three in the country.
Once the skills had been taught, around half of the youngsters decided to take part in the end of day show.
Rachel, who lives in Dawes House, said: “The children really enjoyed it. Some even stayed for the second workshop as they wanted to do both. It was hugely successful and we plan to do another one very soon.”
McQueen’s Dance and Theatre CIC are a non-profit organisation, who are based out of 38B and run classes six days a week teaching singing, dance, gymnastics, vocal coaching and life skills.
