THE new 'Welcome to Stanhope Park' sign was officially unveiled in Holsworthy in glorious sunshine last week. A competition had been organised between Holsworthy Town Council and the town's primary school to create a new sign to celebrate the new play area in the park. Cllr Ken Watson thanked all who contributed financially to the new sign — Terry Warrington of TK Play, Peter Leaver of David Wilson Partnership, Barry Parsons of Devon County Council and Michael Footit of Torridge District Council. The children had been asked to draw pictures of how the park looked to them and the best seven were chosen to be on the new sign, with Shelley Broad combining the best parts into one overall design. JAG Signs then created the finished product. For the full report, and a round-up of the area news and sport, see this week's edition of the Post
