VISITORS to this year’s St Peter’s Fair were treated to a performance of talented young dancers on the second day of the fair (Sunday) at 3pm in the square.
The performance was by CJs Dance, a dance school that was started nearly five years ago by a young Bude girl Charlotte Jenkins
They were asked to perform at this year’s St Peter’s Fair by the mayor of Holsworthy and entertainment co-ordinator Jon Hutchings because he knew the parent of one of the dance schools pupils.
Classes are run in Holsworthy, Chilsworthy, Bude and Kilkhampton and give pupils of all ages the chance to work on their dance skills.
Charlotte told the Post: “I have run the classes in Bude and Kilkhampton by myself offering many classes for all ages and have now recently taken on two more employees offering RAD ballet and UDO urban plus twinkle steps ballet class.
“I always want my students to have fun and meet new friends as well as pushing themselves to succeed and be the best dancers they can be.”
Just over 20 of CJ’s dance students took part, but usually if all of the students can attend and take part it would be just under 100 students.
Those who attend the dance school were given the opportunity to show off their skills at this year’s event and ‘took to the stage’ in the square.
Charlotte said: “We wanted to be part of the fair as my students love performances and also this is what we work up to. It gives a chance for me as a teacher to show off my work and really advertise the school in hope for new students to attend, also, since we newly starting classes in Holsworthy I thought it was a great idea.”
The age ranges for the performance on Sunday, were six to fifteen-years-old, but CJ’s Dance do also offer classes from the ages of two right through to adult.
Charlotte said: “The event was amazing, we were very welcomed and all the kids enjoyed it!”
