ELEVEN Holsworthy Young Carers have enjoyed a performance of the West End hit musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the Royal Theatre Plymouth.

The trip was funded by Conservative Devon County Councillor Barry Parsons and the Waitrose ‘Community Matters’ scheme and run by Carewise, a local young carer support project, with assistance from two local volunteers.

Young Carers are children and young people who take on a caring role for a family member, often missing out on opportunities to have fun and socialise.

Carewise supports young carers with respite activity trips, after school drop ins and one to one support.

Young Carer support worker Jim Harvey said: “I would like to thank Cllr Parsons and the Waitrose team for their generous support of this activity, which has given the children a fantastic day out and some very happy memories. I would also like to thank volunteers Philip and Christine for their continued support.”
