YOU could have heard a pin drop’, was the phrase used by The Stables Inn owner, Paul Howard, to describe local musician Lucy Anna’s recent gig, which mesmirised a large crowd of pub-goers into silence.
The Stables Inn, in Kilkhampton, has been holding a series of promotional nights to showcase local musicians and performers and their talent.
Saturday, May 21 saw Lucy Anna perform for a second time at the venue, and was reportedly even better than the first gig she played there.
Lucy Anna is a 15-year-old singer, songwriter and guitarist, who is greatly supported by the staff and audiences at the Stables Inn, and has recently been booked to play at the popular festival Boardmasters later in the summer.
The Stables Inn has been holding live music events for ten years, and, realising that not everyone likes to see full bands every weekend, owner Paul decided to bring in some solo singers and performers to showcase their talent to the local crowds.
This different route has resulted in audiences being able to sit down and enjoy the small, but atmospheric venue whilst listening to a range of music genres from modern and talented new musicians on the music scene.
Paul said: “It was superb, this was the second time Lucy has played for us, and you could have heard a pin drop, it was so good.
“The bands and performers love the venue, because it has an actual stage instead of being shoved aside next to the doors or in a corner.”
Having won the People’s Choice Award for Music at the Eden Project last year, Paul told the Post that it’s boosted a lot of income and recognition for the Inn, with performers coming from Exeter, Plymouth and more local areas.
He added: “It’s really put us on the map, so a lot of performers want to play here.”
