A ‘LOT of hard work’ went into the entries in the Young Farmers’ Club competition.

Emma Sikorski and Jo Bass judged the competition. Emma said: “We had really good fun and it took us back to our days of Young Farmers’!

“The quality of what was here was really hard to judge, we spent ages deliberating. There was a really high standard of entries, we could see a lot of people put a lot of hard work into what they made. Everybody should be really proud of what they achieved today and giving it a really good go!”

The young farmers were also asking visitors to guess the name of the foal, and face painting.

Chairman Hollie Cornelius said: “It’s a lovely day with a lovely turnout. There was also a good turnout from the club for the entries, a lot of effort has been put in for them.”

The club has had a good year so far — it has raised more than £2,000 for the air ambulance and Cancer Research.

Two tug of war teams went through to the South West finals — the juniors winning and ladies third. The juniors went on to the national finals where they came fifth.

The club’s girls also recently put together a dabaret dance act. They came third against other clubs in Cornwall and went on to the South West finals as part of the county team.
