IT HAS been a fantastic few weeks for Launceston YFC.

Members travelled to Par for competitions day on Sunday, May 28, where the club was awarded 2nd place overall. It was a day for 2nds, as the club’s cookery team, mini cubicle and both men’s and women’s tug of war teams were all awarded 2nd. Their stock judges were on fine form with Holly Yelland, Kian Frain and Heather Stanbury all awarded prizes on the day.

Royal Cornwall soon came round and the club was awarded 3rd overall for the cubicle, rewarding the effort that so many members put in over many hours.

The whole YFC tent was a chance for members to show off their incredible talents with Emily Brookham being awarded 1st prize for her beautiful quilt and Heather Stanbury delighting everyone with a 1st for her anniversary cake.

Oli Stephens, Amy Trehane, Lauren Uglow and Holly Yelland were also awarded prizes for entries. Holly Yelland represented Launceston in the stock judging and won all three of her classes.

On the Saturday afternoon YFC entertains took place before the results. Oli did a four-minute rendition of the cabaret act scoring Launceston YFC another 1st place! Results were in and Launceston came 2nd overall winning the perpetual challenge cup for most points in art, handicraft and photography, the Prudential Assurance Company perpetual cup for lamb stock judging, and Jake Crabb was awarded the NFU Mutual Challenge Shield.

Launceston YFC chairman, Amy Trehane, said: “An absolutely brilliant few weeks which is reflective of everyone’s hard work!”
