CURRENT Year 6 St Joseph’s School pupils were joined by children from feeder schools for a special transition programme prior to joining the Senior School in September.

There were opportunities to experience Senior School lessons as well as time to make new friendships.

Parents and pupils met for a buffet and presentation on the Tuesday evening and heard from current Year 7 pupils as to what was so different about life in the Senior School and teaching staff were on hand to answer everyone’s questions.

The Wednesday was spent in school for timetabled lessons in Science, English, Humanities, creative Art and Catering. The day ended with some team building activities that the children hugely enjoyed.

The Thursday was a highlight when everyone enjoyed surfing at Widemouth Bay followed by lunch and beach games with the St Joseph’s staff.

Head teacher Oliver Scott said: “The children had a fantastic time at the beach — they were hugely excited as they had such a successful surfing session. A great day out, and lovely to see such positive attitudes from all.”

All the pupils enjoyed the dry weather and the teachers were impressed by their exemplary behaviour. The schools looks forward to them joining Year 7 in September.
