What is it all about? It is all about the important places in people's lives. We all have them, whether it is where we live (home), where we were born (roots) or perhaps somewhere in between. Where you previously lived, worked or went to college, a favourite holiday spot or just somewhere that interests you. Hometoroots puts you in your place.

The aim is for every town and large village in the UK to have a presence. Each town page is a timeline of that place. It allows users to make observations on current issues, obtain information on future events and immerse themselves in the rich social history of the favourite places all 'under one roof'

How does it work? It works the same as most other social media websites. Content is provided by its users, but is location specific. An added benefit, compared to some other sites, is that you do not have to scroll through masses of posts that are not of interest to you. Messages are categorised viz 'Local Scenes and Landmarks' - 'Local Events' - 'Groups and Fellowships' - 'Schools' - 'Sports Clubs' - 'Workplaces' - 'Legends Lost' - 'Fact, Fiction and Folklore' and 'Where are they now' - so if for example you were trying to find information on your grandfather who played for 'Anytown Athletic' in the '30s, you would go to the 'Anytown' page, click on the timeline Filter button, select sports clubs and 1930s and this will display all posts matching that criteria.

Show your 'Pride in Place' - register now and befriend your important places.

Note: We are looking for enthusiastic new team members throughout the UK to be co-ordinators/researchers. Initially, this will be a labour of love (a few hours per week), but those who help to make Home to Roots a success - will share in that success. Interested?
