In 2003 Yvonne King, a founder member of Worthy Quilters, Holsworthy asked the group to make little quilts for orphanages in Zambia. Since that date the members have enjoyed sewing and sending 150 quilts. At the request of Operation Sunshine they have now progressed to making dresses for girls age five to 12 years. On Saturday, May 25 Operation Sunshine in Tavistock will be packing a huge container for Zimbabwe. In addition to school furniture, medical supplies, tools, bicycles and clothes, so badly needed, there will be a parcel of 53 little dresses (with pockets) provided by members of Worthy Quilters.

Pictured above are some of the members at the May meeting at Holsworthy Skills Centre admiring their handiwork, from left to right: Judith Upton, Mary Course, Janet Fisher, Yvonne King, Enid Whiteley, Joyce Jennings and Jo Hendy. Thanks also to Pat Felstead, Sally Kidson, Elsie Prout and Pat Tanner.
