FIRE appliances from Holsworthy and Hatherleigh attended a fire in a workshop at Forest Houses, on the road from Morecombe Cross to Lake End Cross in Halwill at around 2.20pm on Monday.

Crews found the workshop, measuring approximately 10x3 metres, had smoke issuing. The fire involved a wood burning stove, which had spread to the timber clad­ding. Crews used two breathing apparatus, a foam extinguisher and a hosereel jet to extinguish the fire.

Small tools and two saws were used to cut away debris and make the area safe. The building suffered 5% damaged by fire and 10% by smoke. The cause of the fire was established as accidental.
