A GROUP of bus passengers has won a significant victory in its campaign for safety to be improved on a rural route. The group represents passengers on the 425 Travel Cornwall service connecting the Trewint and Five Lanes area to Launceston, Egloskerry and North Petherwin. The group of passengers last autumn met Cornwall Council transport division officer David Edwards to discuss a number of pressing issues in regards to the rural bus service — previously the 225 route. Foremost among their concerns was the risk to passengers when the bus crosses both Plusha and Two Bridges junctions. The group proposed a new safer route avoiding the two crossings. Other concerns included passenger numbers, sustainability of the service, who actually pays for free bus passes and the need for a full Saturday service.
