REFURBISHMENT has begun on a recently purchased landmark building in Launceston, to transform it into a regional centre for businesses in the South West.

‘Number One’, a late Georgian building on 1 Western Road, Launceston, will become a commercial office space for businesses after remaining redundant for many years.

The 11,313 square foot building will provide a flexible, innovative, appealing work environment, in the hopes that it will draw talented business people to the area.

The South West is responsible for many financial, accounting, legal and management firms, which employ around 150,000 people and represent 10% of the regional economy. These new offices will be supporting the South West’s growing business community.

The offices will be in a central location on the A30 on the Cornwall and Devon border, and is less than an hour away from key cities in the South West such as Exeter, Plymouth and Truro.

This will make Launceston a key South West market and will provide plenty of space for growing businesses.

Jonathan Parnall, the refurbishment project manager, said: “This is an exciting project and a landmark commercial development for Launceston. Historically, there has been a lack of quality office space in Launceston; Number One is a prominent building and marks a big step forward for Launceston’s commercial accommodation market, and will enhance what Launceston has to offer to the regional business community.

“I am delighted that the rural leader, Folk2Folk, has already signed a lease as anchor tenant, and will be relocating its national headquarters to Number One in the coming months.

“The variety, quality and flexibility of space on offer presents tremendous opportunity for a variety of sectors from technology, professional services through to creative and innovative industries, not available elsewhere in Cornwall.”

Start-ups and established companies are encouraged to look into the office spaces, as well as regional and national companies. It is advised to contact Mr Parnall for more information on 07977 512828.
