EVERY child from Nursery to Year 6 at St Joseph’s Junior School took part in the annual Harvest Festival held in the school hall on Friday, September 23.
At St Joseph’s this is always a joyous occasion, and one of the traditional highlights of the school year.
It was extremely well attended by parents and relatives of those involved, and the children treated the packed hall to a variety of poems and songs on a harvest theme.
The presentation of the harvest loaf, baked by the children in Year 5 under the expert guidance of catering manager Mrs Sarah Sandercock, was made by China Bunyard and Finlay Worth.
Helen Bailey, the chairman of the Launceston Food Bank, gave an interesting talk about the work of the Food Bank and how amazed she was at the standard of the children’s performances, and thanked the Junior School for their wonderful donation of food produce.
This focused minds on the need to help the many people who rely on the Food Bank, and their need for volunteers to ensure their excellent work can continue.
