THERE was plenty to bleat about for sheep handlers at the show.

Pat Martin from Putford near Holsworthy, who is also chairperson of the Woolsery Show, was showing her selection of prize-winning sheep at last week’s show.

She said: “We’ve done very well, we won with a ewe and also achieved reserve champion. I don’t come (to Launceston Show) every year as I am chairman of Woolsery Show and also involved with Holsworthy Show.

“Overall it’s been a good day. Next up I have North Devon Show and Okehampton.”

Graham Tucker from Lewannick was also having a good day, having brought along his prize-winning Devon and Cornwall Longwools.

He said: “It’s been reasonable and I’ve had a good day. I’ve been coming to Launceston Show for 50 years and have only missed it twice. I’m very pleased with my success today.”

Graham won champion longwool and the Sleep cup for the group of three. Next he aims to conquer Woolsery, Okehampton, Camelford and Holsworthy shows.
