The UK's newest steam locomotive, 'The Lyd' made a successful visit to Launceston recently — the first time the wonderful train has visited the Westcountry. Launceston Steam Railway Managing Director, Nigel Bowman, said: "It has been wonderful to have Lyd visit us, especially as we have all supported the project to build Lyd since it was started by our good friend James Evans nearly twenty years ago. Lyd is a testimony to the fact that Britain, now a de-industrialised country, can still make some wonderful engineering achievements."
