THE popular church fete at St Breward topped the £1,000 mark.
The fete was opened with a fanfare from St Breward Silver Band followed by Paul Collyer, a representative from Merlin MS Centre, explaining a little of what they do. Each year a different charity is given the opportunity to come and set up a stall and engage with people.
In the hall, sales of teas took takings of more than £200, and well done all who baked, buttered, served, washed up etc. The raffle comprised an array of bottles — not just alcohol.
A jigsaw challenge was a new game timed with stopwatch and of course a number of interesting stalls, not forgetting the ever popular cake stall.
Outside, there was something to suit all tastes, from shove 1/2d, throwing horseshoes, 50/50 chance, kicking at goal, a Bottle Stall and the Plant Stall crammed full with a colourful array of plants.
