THERE was an ‘amazing’ turnout for the 88th Poughill Revel and Cuckoo Fair, held last Thursday.

This year’s revel queen, Honeysuckle Parker-Crum, was crowned by Rachel Jenkins. The attendants were Isabelle and Eliza Colwill.

There was fun, games and entertainment for everyone throughout the day. The fancy dress competition was won by Sophie Shute, Ben Shute and Monty Tanner, who dressed up as robots and there were ‘Knobbly Knees’ competitions for adults and children.

A marquee housed various stalls including arrangements by Bude Flower Club. Outside the marquee was a sweet stall provided by Wooda Farm Holiday Park as well as football, coconut shy, a treasure hunt, skittles and hoopla.

There were also children’s races, face painting, performances by CJ Dance School and Bude Metric Brass Band.

Refreshments included a barbecue and tea tent.

Secretary Charlotte Colwill said: “It was fantastic and there really was an amazing turnout. I think it was one of the busiest years we have seen. There was so much support from the local people, which was incredible.

“There was a lovely afternoon of entertainment and a wonderful atmosphere. The support from the locals and holidaymakers visiting was lovely — it’s lovely to see a small village fete going for 88 years.”
