THE St Giles Women’s Guild recently held their annual New Year lunch at Holsworthy Golf Club.
Twenty-three members and friends all enjoyed a carvery and desserts. The chef and staff were thanked for their friendliness, help and kindness.
After the meal, the guild talked about which charity they were going to support for this year, and several were put forward. It was decided that Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) would be the chosen charity, as they had heard about it from one of their previous speakers who is involved with it.
CRY is dedicated to saving lives of young people affected by undiagnosed heart conditions through screening, research and raising awareness. The guild then held a raffle to start the fundraising and raised £47, a great beginning. Fundraising will be continued with a bring and buy sale and summer fete later in the year.
A few notices were given out about the next meeting and for ideas for the summer outing. They then all went home having enjoyed a lovely social and successful lunch.
