NOT many people would receive a wing walk as a present for their 60th birthday but that’s exactly what Launceston lady Tina Davey has received from her family.

Tina, who works at Paul Hicks Insurance, has a bit of a habit of doing crazy things.

In the last few years she’s run the London Marathon, done a parachute jump for the Children’s Hospice South West Precious Lives Appeal and taken part in the London Playtex Moonwalk, all to raise money for various cancer charities and the NSPCC. She has also been parascending, abseiling and aqua zorbing.

This time she’ll raise money for the New Heli Appeal for Cornwall Air Ambulance (CCA) when she completes the challenge at Bodmin Airfield on Tuesday, August 6.

Tina (pictured) will be tied to the wing of a Boeing Stearman aircraft, which will be piloted by chief pilot Mike Dentith. CCA need to raise £2.5-million by 2020 to afford another helicopter.

Tina said: “My 60th birthday present from my family was a wing walk — not because they dislike me but because it is one of the things on my very long ‘bucket list’! I then thought that it would also be a good opportunity to raise money for a charity.

“Having had first-hand experience of loved ones being airlifted to hospital I decided that this time I would support the New Heli Appeal. It also seemed appropriate as I too will be airborne! I think it will be exciting and it is something I have wanted to do since I was a teenager.”
