OVER 12 members of the public have already submitted letters of objection, ahead of the consultation deadline, to a proposal to erect six wind turbines measuring 85 metres high on land at Wheeler's Cross, Sutcombe. A planning application was submitted by global company Wind Prospect to Torridge District Council at the beginning of April and since then, a number of people have demonstrated their opposition.

The concept of having a wind farm at Wheeler's Cross has been one which has gone on for a number of years. It first began in 2006 when a different developer wanted to erect turbines.

Last Saturday the parish clerk of East and West Putford Parish Council, Anthea Appleton chaired a meeting between East and West Putford, Sutcombe and Bradworthy parish councils in Bradworthy Parish Hall.

Residents from the four areas and representatives of the parish councils attended the meeting which was held to inform people of the impact of such a development and to allow them to air their views and ask questions.
