Lynn Crockford addressed the council during the public participation section of the meeting.
She told them that she was the proud owner of a mug celebrating the Queen's Silver Jubilee and noted that there was a lot organised to mark that occasion.
However on the occasion of the Queen's Golden Jubilee, with two weeks to go to the event, there was nothing much planned to mark the day, albeit some events were planned "last minute."
Lynn said, at the time, the town council was criticised for not doing more, but back then, they said it was not up to them to organise events, largely due to the expense it would incur.
She asked the current council whether it was co-ordinating anything for the Diamond Jubilee.
"Obviously the eyes of the world are on Great Britain. Children and older people would, no doubt, expect something to be done and would be very offended if there wasn't."
