A NEW community wildlife garden will be a ‘huge asset to all of Launceston’, the town council heard recently.
Cllrs Sam Allen and Jessica Williams were among those to volunteer to help transform a bramble-filled field, the old plant nursery just outside Coronation Park, into the first stages of a community wildlife garden.
It was the idea of resident Lorna Denney, who reached out for help from the community.
Cornwall Council agreed for its land to be worked on and CORMAC offered tools so volunteers could help.
Cllr Allen said: “More work is required as is ongoing help from local people. If you feel like getting on your wellies and helping out for stage two, likely to be in the spring, please contact Cllr Jade Farrington or myself, or email [email protected]
“It shows how a community idea can turn into a reality. It will be a huge asset to the wildlife, neighbouring Coronation Park and the whole town.”
