HEAVY rain and high winds over the weekend caused damage across coastal areas and motorists inland had to be wary of driving through deep puddles.

At Bude, damage was caused to the sea pool at Summerleaze, with railings broken along the path.

The Friends of Bude Sea Pool charity, which has been raising money to refurbish the pool since 2011, placed images on the charity's Facebook page, and only hours later supporters and members had pledged to help with the repairs, one offering to replace the railings.
