A PUP seal was attended to at Widemouth Bay last week by the beach’s task force.

Widemouth Task Force member Clive Symm and his family spotted the pup stranded before calling the task force, keeping the pup safe and keeping the public at a safe distance.

A Widemouth Task Force spokesperson said: “A huge thank you to Widemouth Task Force member Clive Symm and family for firstly reporting this stranding then keeping the pup safe by keeping the public at a safe distance. I was unable to make it to this one but was able to set the British Divers Marine Life Rescue wheels is motion for our head medic Michelle Robinson Clement and mountain goat Paul Willshire to assess.

“The pup was 18kg, in reasonable health but very snotty and on a very busy beach, so uplift was necessary.

“He’s now at Penbode Vets for an overnight stay and antibiotics with regular feeds by Paul and other BDMLR medics.

“If there’s a good improvement the pup will be relocated to a quieter beach.”
