A CAMELFORD lady has raised over £1,000 for Mount Edgcumbe Hospice.

Nancy Lane, from Camelford, has handed over £1,030 to the team at Mount Edgcumbe Hospice in St Austell, a hospice part of Cornwall Hospice Care, which helps those coping with a terminal illness, and their families.

Nancy regularly fundraises for the charity, which is close to her heart, after her husband Harold passed away in the hospice. This recent spate of fundraising came from a series of whist drives, held at Nancy’s home in Camelford every Friday evening. Each person in attendance pays a contribution of £2, which Nancy collects for the charity.

Nancy said: “People are very good about it — thank you to everyone who has supported my fundraising.

“My husband died in the hospice, so it is very close to my heart. They (the hospice) were very good. I must say they were wonderful.”

Nancy has since received a lovely letter from the hospice, thanking her for her generous donation.
