On Saturday, March 28 an emotional but ecstatic Ruby Simmonds, a resident of Burdon Grange Care Home in Highampton, realised a life-long ambition when she met her idol Jimmy Osmond.

Jimmy who was performing at the Princess Theatre, Torquay in 'Chicago' kindly agreed to meet Ruby along with fellow residents Angie Broad and Michelle Brueton, together with staff from the care home.

After his polished yet quirky portrayal of his character artful lawyer Billy Flynn, a charming Jimmy Osmond took time out between performances to meet the group.

From her teens Ruby has followed The Osmonds and her bedroom at Burdon Grange is adorned by memorabilia of the group, and although she talks knowledgeably about all of the family Donny and Jimmy have always been her favourites.

Prior to the show Ruby had received a specially signed programme from Jimmy and then afterwards when she actually met her hero, she presented him with gifts for him and each of his brothers. Jimmy was delighted with the gesture and assured Ruby that they would go straight into his suitcase and be given to Alan, Wayne, Merril, Jay and Donny when he got back to America.

Ruby is still recovering from her 'overwhelming' experience and would like to thank everyone who made it possible.
