THE occasional shower failed to dampen amusement at Blisland's church fete.

Residents and visitors joined in games, browsed the stalls and took part in the dog show — held on the village green.

Blisland churchwarden Charles Edward-Collins said: "The vagaries of the Cornish weather is always uppermost in the organisers' minds on the morning of our village church fete.

"Thankfully, the low cloud did not produce much in the way of rain and the tents went up, tea tables were put out, chairs were moved from one part of the village to another and stallholders carried their wares across reasonably dry grass to the tables that had been placed for them."

The result was that plenty of people were at the village green to enjoy the fun of the various dog classes, judged by Ingrid Bibb, and the other stalls run by stalwarts of the fete, teas in the institute, delicious cakes, plants, bric-a-brac and toys, or having their face painted, splatting a rat, scoring a goal, digging for treasure, educating themselves at the book stall or gambling on the tombola.
