WHAT a difference a week makes. After the previous week's unsatisfactory performance, Bude struck with more focus, a much more positive attitude and crucially lots more enjoyment, writes Ron Cann.

To their credit Launceston tackled from minute one to minute sixty. Indeed it took Bude nearly 20 minutes to break them down for the first try. Full back Kyle Speare fielded a defensive kick and took the ball down the left. The ruck was cleared by good support from Tom Summers and second row Warren Rumble cut a lovely angled run to score under the posts. Glen Coles converted.

Then it was centre Olly Dell's turn to make a scything run. With his trademark pirouette out of the tackle Dell popped the ball up for his centre partner Jago Cann to score.

Cann scored again with a strong run down the right from just outside the Launceston 22. By this time Launceston's hooker had to depart injured and the scrums went uncontested.

This freed Bude's hooker Richie Herzog to display his silky skills. After great driving from the Bude forwards Herzog sold an outrageous dummy and waltzed over the line. Glen Coles converted brilliantly from out wide.

The second half started with a great catch and bullocking run from second row Shane Lovejoy. It ended several moves later with Warren Rumble barging over for his second try. Coles again converted with another beautifully struck kick out wide.

Captain Johna Spratley scored two tries in quick succession to cap a fine leadership performance. Glen Coles converted both.

There was then a contagion of white line fever among the Bude players and several scoring opportunities were wasted, one of which nearly ended with a breakaway Launceston try.

Jago Cann completed his hat-trick with a show-boating dive under the posts. Coles again converted.

Well done to Launceston who never stopped battling and made Bude work for every score. Lesser teams would have crumbled a lot more. Thanks also to Bude's Danny Jacquet who played most of the game for Launceston.
