CERTAIN bus?journeys via Bridgerule and Pyworthy have recently been stopped, it has been revealed.

At September's Holsworthy Town Council meeting, acting town clerk, Maureen Fenner explained to councillors that some journeys operated by Western Greyhound through Pyworthy, Bridgerule, Holsworthy and Bude had been stopped due to a loss of contract. Therefore, this would effect residents of the parishes and students using the service to get to and from schools in the area.

A spokesperson for Western Greyhound explained: "We regret to announce that due to a recent loss of contract, we have been forced to withdraw certain short journeys via Bridgerule and Pyworthy on the 599. After operation on September 3, the following journeys will no longer run: 9.50am and 11.50am from Bude to Holsworthy Hospital; 10.55am and 12.55am from Holsworthy Hospital to Bude.

"We have diverted the 520 journey on Wednesdays to run through Bridgerule at 10.17am and Pyworthy at 10.25am to provide a service to Holsworthy and Bude, returning at 1pm and 12.52pm respectively. There is no change to the main service between Bude and Exeter."

Farecar — the Devon County Council dial-a-ride scheme — operates six days a week and provides journey opportunities for those wishing to travel between Pyworthy, Bridgerule and Holsworthy. For more information, call (01392) 382800 or email [email protected]">[email protected].
