ONE hundred and fifty-six senior citizens of Bude enjoyed an afternoon tea party, organised by the town’s Rotary Club.

Either making their own way there or being collected by members of the club, they were treated to afternoon tea and sandwiches, followed by mince-pies and clotted cream.

Organising 156 coats and making sure they go back to their rightful owners is just one of the tasks carried out by the Inner Wheel of Bude, who support the event, and help serve the food and tea afterwards.

The event was hosted by the Falcon Hotel and the afternoon’s entertainment started with the St Petroc’s Choir singing a variety of Christmas songs, followed by the amazing vocal talents of Gerri, who sang a medley of old favourites with the highlight being the Dame Vera Lynn song, ‘We’ll Meet Again’ — everybody joined in.

To round off the afternoon was Roy McKenzie at his keyboard and Nick Chadd, who led the carol singing.
