TWO new councillors were co-opted on to Bude-Stratton Town Council at the authority's latest meeting, writes Luke Smith.
Paul Curtis and Jeremy Heard were voted in by their now fellow councillors to represent the Stratton and Bude wards respectively. There were five candidates for the two positions, three of whom had previous experience of being on the council.
Both were given a warm welcome by mayor Frank Partridge, who said: "The council was pleased to have five excellent candidates. On behalf of the council, I am delighted to welcome the two successful candidates, for the Bude ward, Jeremy Heard, and for the Stratton ward, Paul Curtis.
"I know both of them personally. They have a long-standing connection with Bude and Stratton, and a strong identity within the local community.
"Both own businesses in Bude and Stratton that bring them into daily contact with the local residents, and I am sure they will both be a strong voice for the electors whom they have been elected to serve."
