By Michael Bromell, Camelford Show President

CAMELFORD?SHOW has something for everyone with the show field packed with lots to see, sample and take part in.

There are a varied amount of competitions, entertainment and stalls that the dedicated and hard working committee have organised and put together.

It takes a lot of behind the scenes man and womanpower to put this one-day local show on.

After serving as a committee member for many years, and as one of the horse stewards, it is now a pleasure to be this year’s show president.

I’d like to take this opportunity to personally thank our retiring show secretary, Ann Hayne, for all her dedicated work and time she has given to the show over many years, and to welcome on board our new secretary Victoria Wells.

Born at Launcells Barton, Stratton, to a farming family, I am now a retired dairy and beef farmer and publican, which was the reason for moving with my wife and young family from our farm in Devon to the area over 50 years ago to take on the Bettle and Chisel pub in Delabole, where we continued to farm beef cattle and keep horses alongside running the pub.

A great interest of mine was riding out with the Tetcott Hunt as a youngster under the hunt master Garfield Elliot, an uncle of mine, and later in life with the Lamerton Hunt, and I enjoy the wonderful display of the North Cornwall Hunt at the show each year with the riders, horses and hounds.

The show is very much a local tradition and many businesses have supported the show constantly over the years.

I’d like to thank all who support and attend the show, your support is invaluable.

We look forward to seeing you all at the show and hope to make it another successful year.

Let’s hope the weather is kind to us as well!
