THIS year’s ‘Holsworthy in Bloom’ competition was a blooming success with some fantastic entries bringing life and colour to the town.

The Holsworthy in Bloom competition was held as part of the town’s St Peter’s Fair week.

Deputy mayor, Colin Punter, Holsworthy Town Council handyman and gardener, George Wilcox, and Carol Houghton from Wyevale Garden Centre, Bude, visited each of the winners recently to present them with their awards.

Winners of the residential competition were: 1st, Mr Tonks; 2nd, Ms Hibbard; 3rd, Mrs Wyatt.

In the ‘Best Hanging Basket’ and ‘Best Business’ competition the Kings Arms retained their title, winning first place. In second place was the Social Club and in third was The Old Market Inn.

A ‘Best Dressed Window’ competition was also held as part of fair week. The winners were: 1st, Thomas Westacott chartered accountants; 2nd, GSD 2000 charity shop; 3rd, British Heart Foundation charity shop.

The town looks forward to seeing what Holsworthy in Bloom brings next year.

Cllr Punter congratulated everyone for the effort they had put in to this year’s competition.
