THE Friends of Bude Sea Pool held their first meeting since officially being established as a not-for-profit community group.

Plenty of new faces turned up to support the group in their fight to sustain the future of Bude's popular outdoor facility. Around double the amount of people that attended their previous meeting made their way along, even with some regulars absent.

An annual membership fee for the group was agreed, at £10-per-year, which can be obtained once a charity status application has been ratified. Corporate membership was also discussed, and how the group can promote support for the campaign from businesses in the town.

A working group was established, with the aim of looking what developments could benefit the pool by providing some income; ideas included kiosks, a cafe, and beach huts for members, amongst more.

Cornwall Council have also allowed the group to provide signage at the pool which will provide users with the relevant information regarding the pools future.

There will be a variety of fundraising events taking place over the coming months, with the re-opening of the Strand Hotel being the first of these.
