CONCERNS over the maintenance of Chapel Street in Camelford were brought up during the public participation section of the town council meeting last Thursday.

Jenny Finch attended the Camelford Town Council meeting to address councillors about the upkeep of the grass and weeds along Chapel Street, which have spread into the gullies.

She said: “If you want to attract visitors to the town, maybe you should clean the side walk as well?”

She said that the area would be weeded every year, but she has spent ‘nearly two years’ on the phone to address her concerns. Jenny said: “I’ve spent nearly two years on the phone to try and get the council to cut the grass on a regular basis.”

She held her hand just below her waist, demonstrating the length and vast growth of the weeds over time.

Jenny added: “The cobbles and street is part of Camelford’s history, but they’re just covered up with weeds because Cornwall Council don’t do anything.”

Town clerk, Esther Greig, explained that she had already reported this issue to Cormac on June 5, and has recently chased a response.
