THE St-Giles-on-the-Heath Annual Horticultural Show launched its own website on Wednesday, July 13 — exactly one month before the show is due to take place.
The website (stgileshorticulturalshow.weebly.com) gives villagers the chance to read all about this year’s event, to download a schedule and entry form, and to see photographs of last year’s show and all the winners.
The former secretary said: “Our show will be on Saturday, August 13, and we want to give people plenty of time to find out all about it so they can practise their recipes, take photographs or finish their paintings.
“There’s so much more to the show than just entering fruit and vegetables and we don’t think that those who haven’t entered before realise just how much there is – so they probably wouldn’t even bother to pick up one of the free schedules.
“We also plan to have lots of activities for children on the afternoon, so there will plenty to do as well as viewing all the colourful entries in the Coronation Hall and the marquee.
“As usual, our schedules and entry forms will be available at St Giles Shop and Post Office, but now people can also download them from our website.”
Patty Taylor, who designed the website, said: “I think we are just one of a handful of village flower shows with our own website. As well as telling people what’s happening, we can also use it to save information on previous shows.
“So the new site has all our photographs of last year’s winners and some scenes from the day and we will be able to add all this year’s winners.”
