As recently reported in the 'Post', Wayne Mettam, an IT engineer from Morwenstow, was raising money for Diabetes UK by jumping out of a perfectly good aircraft for a tandem skydive. On the afternoon of Sunday, June 7, as the clouds broke up over Perranporth to reveal blue skies, he successfully completed the jump, raising almost £700 for the charity. Describing the jump, Wayne said: "It was awesome! Over far too quickly but I can't wait to do it again!" The jury is still out on deciding Wayne's sanity but there's no denying his bravery and dedication to raising money for charity. Wayne also commented on the Cornish Parachute Club who hosted the event: "Everyone at the club was amazing, very friendly and professional and at no time did I feel nervous about the jump as the instruction and care was excellent. I would certainly recommend the skydive to anyone and this is the best location to jump from and the best club to jump with."
