VISITORS who abandoned the A30's Saturday tailbacks at Five Lanes were among those visiting the ninth annual War Machines Weekend at Davidstow Airfield and Cornwall at War Museum last weekend. They joined hundreds who attended the annual event where Military Vehicle Trust members had their 'pride and joy' on display. The 35 vehicles ranged from the first world war up to modern times, with three Reo 6x6 troop carriers powered by powerful straight six diesel engines. One was driven from St Day by museum supporter Ken Spurr and the other two belong to Roger and Gerri Jerram from Camelford, who also fired the 'noon gun', a 105mm, which was towed by one of the Reos. There was a large and varied assortment of vehicles and crews. Members of Living History Groups in period dress, including the Dunbar family, who dressed as Military Policeman — Michael with his wife Theresa and 'evacuee' son James. Early evening on Saturday saw a military convoy move off to explore the former RNAS Treligga near Delabole, courtesy of the landowner, Colin Davey.
