THE recently opened St Breward world war one exhibition almost became dangerously alive as a rusty pineapple hand grenade, dating from the war, with pin in place was found in a nearby garage. The young family, including children with visiting friends, were asked to evacuate their recently purchased house at Rylands when the husband discovered the rusty hand grenade hidden in a box as he was clearing out the garage. The police arrived speedily and awaited a decision from Bomb Disposal in Wiltshire while they viewed photos of the grenade still in the garage. Luckily, with a declaration that the grenade was safe, the family was able to move back in a few hours later.
