POLICE have received reports of bogus callers in South Petherwin, purporting to be carrying out meter readings for energy suppliers.

Anyone who notices any suspicious activity or persons, is asked to contact 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

A spokesperson for Launceston Police said: “Please remember if any one calls from an energy company they will have ID on them and will not mind if you ask them to wait while you verify their identity with the company.”

They added it is helpful to write things down at the time or soon after the event to provide descriptions of any suspicious persons or vehicles, and said remember to note the time and date.
