THE Friends of Bude Sea Pool are encouraging parents in the area to ensure their children do not cause any unnecessary cleaning up or damage to the town’s facility.
On the evening of May 2, a group of children were allegedly spotted throwing pebbles into the sea pool, after they had been removed by staff members as part of the sea pool’s annual maintenance.
The sea pool was recently drained as part of the facility’s annual maintenance and enhancement programme, and is yet to be opened.
Following the incident, a sea pool supporter posted on Facebook to let people know what he had seen that evening, explaining that sea pool staff had spent three days cleaning out the pebbles and ensuring the walkway and steps of the sea pool were clear.
Sea pool staff reportedly went off duty at around 6pm that evening, and by 6.30pm one of the pebble cages had been opened and pebbles were thrown over the top of the sea pool. The man said the children did stop when challenged, but staff would have had to spend some unnecessary time cleaning the mess up.
Bude Sea Pool shared this post to its page, and said in response: “Please respect Bude Sea Pool — it is your sea pool after all.”
- BUDE Sea Pool was one of more than 4,000 causes across the UK who have benefitted from the Co-op’s local community fund and are making a difference in their communities.
Every time a Co-op member bought Co-op branded products and services over a six-month period, from a loaf of bread to planning a funeral, 1% of their spend went to a local cause.
For six months, Bude Sea Pool’s part of the fund built up to just over £2,095, which was very much appreciated and well received.
Bude Sea Pool has extended its thanks to the Co-op for choosing it and the community for their contribution.
