POLICE have asked people to be wary following a report of a distraction theft that took place in a supermarket car park in Bude.
The incident took place in Sandpiper Road at around 3.40pm last Tuesday, February 2.
Police said a female shopper was approached by a male, who was in company with a male and female, asking for directions to a hospital.
While the male was distracting the woman it is believed one of the persons in company with him removed a bank card from a handbag, which was in a vehicle.
Police said it was later noticed that the card was stolen and cash had been withdrawn from the account.
A police spokesperson said: “Residents are asked to be wary of this and exercise caution when approached
by persons wanting
directions, etc.
“Please lock your vehicles before becoming engaged in conversation with persons in supermarket car parks.”
