With the cost-of-living crisis continuing to bite across Cornwall, a number of charities and local authorities have opened warm spaces for people to go to.

In Bude, the open house warm space programme sees a number of venues across the town open their doors for people to stay warm for free.

This weekend will see the Tree Inn, in Stratton, opens its doors this weekend (January 28).

A warm room will be open from 10 am until 1 pm, with free hot drinks and activities on offer from 11 am until 12.30 pm.

In a post on their social media pages, Bude-Stratton Town Council announced the event, saying: "Perfect Saturday morning family fun as part of our Open House Warm Space programme. Starts this Saturday at The Tree Inn in Stratton. We're looking forward to this - and it's free to everyone.

"Don't forget that we also have delicious soup and rolls at The Tree Inn on Friday lunchtime. From 12.30 pm."

The warm space at the Tree Inn will be open each Saturday morning, with a spokesperson for the Relax and Grow group involved in the project adding: "Please come and join us to enjoy a range of activities for all ages. Just drop in whenever suits you best to a warm safe space with a free cuppa. Activities will include games, crafts, a chill-out zone, etc. You can choose something to suit each member of your family.

"The Relax & Grow Workshop will be 11 am to 12.30 pm each Saturday but the Warm Room will be open from 10am to 1 pm where you will be greeted by volunteers.

"Drop in once or every week with no need to book. Different activities each week. "
