HOLSWORTHY Chamber of Trade and Commerce have invited Waitrose to attend their next meeting, which will be held on March 11.

Holsworthy's Somerfield store is one of 13 which have been acquired by Waitrose from the Co-operative Group. Waitrose will take over the supermarket in mid June this year.

There were mixed feelings about the news when it was discussed at a meeting of the Chamber on Wednesday, January 21. Members agreed that the secretary, Pam Johns, should contact the appropriate person at Waitrose to invite them to the Chamber's next meeting.

This week's poll asked readers whether the Waitrose takeover would be good for the town. See 'poll history' for the results.
