PEOPLE in Bridgerule are rallying support for a resident they see as a village 'hero' — it could help to win a £30,000 prize for the village hall. The hall is in constant use due to new windows, electrics and lighting, a lower ceiling and smart new paintwork. Because of this it is warmer and more welcoming for all kinds of activities. This is all due to the work of the hall committee, of which Sheila Cholwill is treasurer. Fellow resident Rose Hitchings says: "Sheila does amazing things for our village and when a competition appeared in the Period Living Magazine, asking for a village 'Hero', I immediately applied, stating Sheila as the 'Hero'.' The prize is a £30,000 new kitchen with stainless steel cooker and American-style fridge, which would be a welcome addition to the hall's facilities.
