VOLUNTEERS are needed in Holsworthy to plant 38 trees, which will form a memorial tree trail to commemorate the end of WWI and those in the area who lost their lives during the conflict.
This is not the official planting of the memorial trees for the fallen officers, the final two trees will be planted during an official ceremony on November 2.
The town council is looking for as many people as possible to assist with planting of the first 38 trees in Stanhope Park.
The community planting will take place at 9am on October 30.
Volunteers should wear comfortable shoes and raincoats may be needed. Volunteers must feel able to move and plant trees that will each be approximately four meters in height.
The town council will provide light refreshments for all volunteers.
A spokesperson for the town council said: “We are asking the community as we feel that this is a community project and the more people involved, the more that each of you will know how you have helped the towns planting of these wonderfully sponsored trees in Stanhope Park.”
Those who wish to volunteer should provide the town council with their name and contact details (email and telephone).
